You spent the day traveling to Orlando, the kids are excited and are wanting to go to the
Parks and the parents are looking for a nap.

EPCOT Center is the perfect first stop for everyone in your family.

It is what I refer to as a "Lazy Day" Park. Don't let my nickname fool you. EPCOT Center has a lot to
offer everyone. This is actually our kids favorite park, but it is always our first stop.

What makes this park a good first stop? It  is simply that the lines move quickly, and the rides are
long in durations, so a parent has a chance to rest and the children get use to the idea of waiting in
line for the rides.

This park is divided into two sections: Future World and World Showcase. Most of the attractions are
easy going rides, nothing that is really fast with the exception of the
Test Track and Mission Space.
These two attractions do have height restrictions and a parent should use precaution when
considering allowing young children ride even though they may meet the minimum requirements.

There is a new ride that is titled Soar'in which is very popular in the Land Pavillion. It is a great ride
and worth the hassle. They have done an incredible job of taking you on a hang gliding ride over
California where you can smell the scents. I think the best part was watch the kids raise their feet so
the feet "wouldn't get wet." Try to get into the "B" Section as it is in the middle and I feel is the best
viewing.

If you are planning a full day at EPCOT consider the following "flight path". The World Showcase
opens up an hour or two later than Future World, so arrive an hour or two late.  I know it will be hard,
but pass all the flashy items just as you walk in the gates head towards the World Showcase. It is
straight back until you reach the lake. It doesn't matter which direction, but enjoy your travels across
the countries. We typically go to the right as there are more movies, than rides. Tour the countries
until you reach the boat dock near Germany.

Now that you are a little more awake, take the boat back towards Future World (docking near
Norway) and begin your tour of
Future World, The Land, Living Seas and Journey into
Imagination
.

Finish up the evening with other countries that you missed. Again, end your visit near Germany and
Italy. Stake a claim for the fireworks show, go grab some funnel cake or strudel. Enjoy your late
evening snack while you wait for the fireworks over the lake. Disney has some of the best fireworks
show. And Illuminations at Epcot is the most incredible I have ever seen.

Kids generally do really well at EPCOT and the family can make it a full day. There are stations
known as
KIDCOT FUN STOPS at each of the countries. There is a little arts & crafts station and the
kids receive a token from that county.

Last Notes:
Special Mention: There are a few sections of each ride that are in the dark. Bringing a key
chain flashlight  can help a younger child with fear of the dark get through these few dark
moments.

The Living Seas have changed over the years and are not as fun, at least for the adults, as  before,
but if you have a NEMO fan, you will have to make a stop. How many places do you know that you
can have your picture taken while you're inside a shark (Bruce)? Whatever happened to vegetarian
sharks? Or talk to Crush?

The countries offer a bit of culture with the employees actually being from the country they represent.
There are beautiful gardens, architecture, unique shops and ethnic foods. Though just about each of
the cast members I have talked to about their countries food, insists the food is better in their country.

This is a great place to take one of their tours. If you are 16 years of age or older, invest in taking the
Segway tour.

Future World closes prior the World Showcase.

Take some time to watch the water show in Future world. There are two Cafe's that have fantastic
viewing. Shows are through out the day.

If your little girl like Mulan, she is in the China Pavilion. There wasn't many people there the last day
we went, as Mulan must have spend 15 minutes with the girls. The girls were very excited afterwards.

Body Wars is another big area for Characters. This place is NOISY! So do no go if you have a
headache.

In the Journey Into Imagination Pavilion, send a photo via email to someone. Just a simple display,
but Carol Lynn had a ball.

Something silly, but fun we did the last time we went. At each country we asked a Cast Member how
to say "hello" in their native language. The kids had fun trying to remember how to say "hello" in 10
different languages.

Instead of eating lunch... Snack your way through the countries. Have the family try something new at
each country. The kids love it. We rotate on which child get to pick something new to eat. All the food
we have ever had has been good, so not to worry.

The one thing that is a must skip, is the Circle of Life Movie at the Land Pavilion. As I may or may not
agree with the content, I found the topic delivered a bit heavy for the kids, and they left rather
depressed.
PARKING/Transportation
Parking is $12
You should note that once you pay for parking at one park, you can park free at any of the parks for the rest of the day.
You just show them your pass.

If you are staying in Clermont, Davenport or Kissimmee and want to go to Magic Kingdom you might want to consider
to park at EPCOT Center and take the monorail to Magic Kingdom. It will take you about the same amount of time, but
it is easier to get in and out.
